Gransdens Church Choir Calls for New Members

Gransdens Church Choir Eager To Recruit New Members

The Gransdens Church Choir is appealing for new members to join its long-standing tradition of music-making, which has been at the heart of village life for over 100 years.

The mixed choir, made up of both children and adults, welcomes youngsters aged 7 and above as well as adults of all ages. The group is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music and follows its ‘Voice for Life’ training scheme, with members encouraged to take part in the RSCM Chorister Awards within the Diocese.

The choir performs a wide variety of music, ranging from traditional four-part choral works to contemporary worship songs. Some of the pieces date back to the early 1900s and, in a nod to the area’s musical heritage, the group has even revived psalms by William Tansur from a 1754 collection.

Choir Director Sheila George said the choir is eager to welcome new singers:

“We’re looking to replace some of our members who have moved on or grown up and joined our adult section. Singing in the choir is a great way to be part of our community, make friends and develop musical skills.”

Rehearsals are free and take place every Wednesday at 6:15pm in Great Gransden Church.
