Fire crews have spent the night battling a major fire at a barn in Tilbrook, Huntingdonshire.
More than 30 firefighters were called to the scene at around 2am, with crews from Kimbolton, Huntingdon, St Neots, St Ives and Yaxley attending, alongside the water carrier from Ramsey and additional support from Raunds and Thrapston in Northamptonshire.
On arrival, firefighters were faced with a well-developed fire involving a barn containing around 300 tonnes of straw. Crews worked through the night to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings and land.
Teams remain on site this morning continuing to damp down the area. Residents are being advised to keep doors and windows closed if affected by smoke, and to avoid calling the fire service as crews are already in attendance.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
“There will be smoke in the area as a result of the firefighting tactics, so please take care if you’re travelling nearby. Our crews are working hard to fully extinguish the fire.”
No injuries have been reported, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is expected once it is safe to do so.
