A construction worker has been banned from the roads after being caught drug-driving as he entered RAF Molesworth, just west of St Neots.
Kane Cole, 31, was stopped at the base gates on the morning of March 25 after security staff became concerned about his condition. He was working on a construction project for a contractor at the time.
Police were called, and Cole tested positive for cannabis. Officers also discovered he was driving without insurance and only held a provisional licence.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, Cole, of Ash Crescent in Birmingham, admitted drug driving. He was banned for 14 months and fined £1,000.
PC Sam Thompson said he was grateful to RAF Molesworth staff for flagging their concerns, adding it helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation on local roads.
