Community raises nearly £4,000 at Tom Walker Day 2025

£4000 raised for Teenage Cancer Truet in memory of Tom Walker.

The annual Tom Walker Day returned last Sunday at Eaton Socon Cricket Club, celebrating the life of Tom Walker and raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The event proved a huge success, with the community coming together to enjoy cricket, raffles, prize squares, and a host of family-friendly activities. By the end of the day, nearly £4,000 had been raised for the charity.

Tom died in March 2009, aged just 26, after a tough battle with a rare cancer. A keen sportsman, he played cricket for Eaton Socon, football for Priory Parkside, rowed for St Neots, and played korfball in Cambridge after representing his university in Sheffield. Since his passing, his friends, family, work colleagues and teammates have collectively raised more than £150,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust in his memory.

Organisers and the cricket club expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped make the day possible. From local supporters and players to volunteers who ran stalls and activities, the collective effort ensured a memorable event for all involved.

Eaton Socon Cricket Club said the continued success of Tom Walker Day highlights the strength and generosity of the local community and their commitment to keeping Tom’s memory alive.
