Bedford had a very special visitor last night when Sir Cliff Richard, the nation’s beloved pop legend, popped into the Blue Monk Nepalese & Indian Restaurant on High Street.
The singer, who celebrated his 85th birthday last week, enjoyed a chicken tikka masala – and finished it all, according to staff.
“He gives a good tip, always shakes everybody’s hand, and takes pictures with all the staff,” said the restaurant owners. Cliff also praised the venue, telling the team: “Your restaurant is gorgeous and always welcoming.”
While it’s not known exactly why he was in town, Cliff has previously visited Bedford while rehearsing for upcoming tours.
In the last few days, the singer has posted videos of himself preparing for his “Can’t Stop Me Now Tour”, which starts next month. In one clip he says, “Here I am In the studio I always rehearse in, along with the best band in the world.” .
Although he hasn’t confirmed whether the studio in his video is in Bedford, past visits to the town have been for rehearsals ahead of upcoming tours.
The Blue Monk Nepalese & Indian Restaurant on Bedford High Street told Black Cat Radio “It was wonderful to welcome him back,”. Cliff last visited the restaurant in 2023..
