A drink driver who flipped his car on a rural road near Hail Weston has been banned from driving for 18 months.
Luis Baker, 29, lost control of his Audi on the B645 at about 2.30am on Sunday, 17 August. The vehicle landed upside down in a blackberry bush, triggering a crash detection alert on his iPhone which notified police.
Officers later found Baker, of Fairway Drive, Brampton, lying face down in tall grass further along the road. He had cuts to his arms and legs and was covered in blackberry juice.
He blew 94 in a roadside breath test – almost three times the legal limit of 35.
Baker admitted drink driving when he appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (4 September). He was banned from the road for 18 months and fined £576.
PC Leanne Pettigrew, who investigated, said:
“This incident demonstrates the dangers of drink driving. Not only do you risk your own safety, but also the lives of others on the roads.”
