Motorists are being advised of road closures on the A421 and A1 this weekend as National Highways continues its major improvement work between the Black Cat Roundabout and Caxton Gibbet.
This Weekend
From 9pm on Friday 10 October until 5am on Monday 13 October, the A421 eastbound between the Cardington Interchange and the Black Cat Roundabout will be closed. At the same time, the A1 northbound will be shut between Tempsford and Wyboston.
The closure is to allow Anglian Water to safely connect a new watermain near the carriageway.
Drivers are being asked to follow the signed diversion: leave the A421 at Cardington Interchange, take the A603 towards Sandy, join the A1 northbound to the Tempsford Interchange, then exit onto St Neots Road to connect with the A428 at St Neots before rejoining the A1 at Wyboston.
Next Week
From Monday 13 to Friday 17 October, overnight closures will move westbound while new safety barriers and street lighting are installed along the A421.
The A421 westbound between Black Cat Roundabout and Renhold Interchange, the A1 northbound between Tempsford and Wyboston, and Bedford Road will be affected between 9pm and 5am each night.
Traffic will be diverted south on the A1 towards Sandy, then west along the A603 towards Bedford, before rejoining the A421 at Cardington Interchange.
Road users are urged to allow extra travel time and follow all diversion signs while the work is carried out.
