Drivers are being reminded that the A1 will be closed in both directions between Tempsford and the Black Cat roundabout this weekend.
The closure runs from 9pm on Friday 19 September until 6am on Monday 22 September, to allow for the installation of a new culvert beneath the road near Kelpie Marine.
A culvert is a tunnel that lets water flow under the road, helping prevent flooding by safely diverting rainwater and stream water.
Traffic will be diverted off the A1 at Tempsford onto St Neots Road, before joining the A428 to rejoin the A1 at Wyboston. Southbound drivers will follow the same diversion in reverse.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
