A1 Northbound Closed at Buckden After Lorry Fire – Long Delays Reported

A1 Northbound CLOSED before Buckden Roundabout due to lorry fire.

The A1 northbound has been closed this afternoon just before the Buckden roundabout following a HGV fire.

Online travel sensors show queuing traffic stretching back as far as the Hail Weston turn-off, with delays currently around 50 minutes against expected journey times.

National Highways has issued an update:

“The incident is expected to clear between 19:00 and 19:15, with normal traffic conditions returning by 20:00.”

The southbound carriageway remains open but is very busy, with delays currently of around 10 minutes.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area where possible and allow extra time for their journeys.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed and emergency services continue to manage the scene.
