A St Neots man has been jailed after stealing books and gift boxes from town-centre shops in the run-up to Christmas.
Glen Woolford, 41, of Childs Pond Road, targeted Boots and Waterstones on the High Street on four separate occasions between 5 and 23 November. CCTV captured him repeatedly entering the stores and helping himself to items during the busy festive shopping period.
He appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court today (4 December), where he admitted four counts of shop theft and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
PC Neal Bartley, who led the investigation, said:
“Shoplifting impacts local businesses and the community, especially during the busy Christmas season. Woolford has shown a flagrant disregard for businesses and their property and the sentence reflects how seriously the courts take shop theft. We will continue to work hard to keep towns like St Neots safe.”
