One of St Neots’ most beloved festive traditions is back — high in the sky over Little Barford.
One of St Neots’ quirkiest and most beloved festive traditions is back — the infamous Father Christmas and reindeer lights perched high on top of the Select Plant tower crane in Little Barford have been switched on for the season.
For many locals, spotting Santa glowing above the skyline marks the unofficial–official start of Christmas in St Neots — a signal that the festive spirit has truly arrived.

Today’s switch-on follows the town’s official Christmas lights event on Sunday, which was attended by thousands of people enjoying festive stalls, entertainment, and the countdown to the big moment.
This year, the tower crane lights were turned on during a special Christmas party held for the children of Select Plant staff. After a lively countdown, a group of excited youngsters pushed the plunger together, lighting up Santa and his reindeer in front of St Neots Mayor Richard Slade.

And just when the cheering died down… Father Christmas himself made a surprise appearance, adding even more magic to the moment.
With the crane lights now shining across the town once again, Christmas in St Neots is well and truly underway.
